Who we are

 

There are eight trustees of Basingstoke Mencap, including two users of the charity’s services.

 

Alex Azimi
Alex Azimi

 

Alex has been a trustee of Basingstoke Mencap since 2008. He has lived in Basingstoke for 31 years, and is a regular visitor at our May Club, Life Skills Club, and Sports Club. Alex’s role is putting forward the views of other people who have learning disabilities at Board meetings. When he is not volunteering as a trustee, his hobbies and interests are meeting his friends and going swimming.

Ash Dobrock
Ash Dobrock

 

Ash is an experienced communications professional who has spent time in the private, charity, and public sectors. Ash has spent the last six years in the civil service gaining experience operating across a range of issues and incidents, and is currently working as Head of Communications at the Cabinet Office as part of the Government Communications Service.

David Lister
David Lister

David has been working for Mencap on a voluntary basis following a 34-year career in insurance in the City. He has worked for a number of entities at Lloyds of London, in underwriting, operations, and finance, as part of their executive management teams. Taking semi-retirement in 2017 he now works on a voluntary basis for local charities including the National Trust.

Conway Marshall
Conway Marshall

 

Conway was born in London and is a keen Millwall supporter. He has been a trustee since September 2018, and he goes to May Club and Wellie Club which he really enjoys. When he is not volunteering at Basingstoke Mencap, Conway works at Loddon Enterprises and is a volunteer at the Community Furniture Project.

Maggie Morgans
Maggie Morgans

 

A retired physiotherapist, Maggie has had a life-time of work in hospitals and in the field of disability. One of her family has a learning disability, and as a parent trustee, Maggie hopes to assist at Basingstoke Mencap activities and to share her experience with the board.

Daniel Sargeant
Daniel Sargeant

 

Daniel has been a HR professional for over 20 years. Daniel has worked for a number of organisations including BP and GE, in both the UK and overseas roles.

Michael Stockwell
Michael Stockwell

Michael has been a trustee of Basingstoke Mencap since 2016 and became our Chair in 2018. Michael has a lot of experience working with learning disabilities. He previously worked for the Shaw Trust to help disabled people gain employment, and in 2010 he founded Basingstoke Strikers, a football club for learning disabled players. He has lived in Basingstoke for 32 years and knows the community very well.

David Sturt
David Sturt

 

David is a Chartered IT professional with a range of experience in small and large organisations and managing a small software company. He is supporting the charity in its use of information technology.
